Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit

This week, from Feb. 20-24, it is Chamber of Commerce Week in British Columbia.

“Chamber Week” is celebrated the third week of every February in the province, and recognizes “the outstanding contributions that Chambers and Boards of Trade make to communities right across B.C.,” according to the B.C. Chambers of Commerce.

This year the City of Penticton is taking the extra step of officially proclaiming Feb. 20-24 chamber week in the city.

“For well over a century, chambers have diligently kept their ears tight on the ground to identify the issues impacting businesses the most, and have worked with government to drive these insights into tangible action,” says Michael Magnusson, president of the chamber.

A small ceremony will take place on the steps of City Hall at 12 p.m. today, where Mayor Andrew Jakubeit will make the proclamation and help celebrate the 110th birthday of the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce.
