A curling tournament for a good cause is set to take place at the Penticton Curling Club today.

The Tugs Tournament for Heart and Stroke, a first time event, will take place from 9:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“I want to bring awareness to curling and the curling club with the Scotties Tournament coming in 2018,” said organizer Shane Conniff, a bartender/promotions manager at Tugs Taphouse. “The other reason is funds raised will go to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.”

There are 18 teams of four, a mix of experienced and inexperienced curlers, lined up to compete.

Donation boxes will be set up at the location to raise funds for the foundation.

There will also be a dinner and live entertainment for participants starting at Tug’s at 6 p.m. on Saturday, with more donations accepted.

More information is available on their Facebook page.
