For the second year in a row the District of Lake Country has received the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada’s Canadian Award for Financial Reporting.

The Association gave the district the award for its 2015 annual financial report.

This week Lake Country Mayor James Baker presented the award to the district’s chief financial officer, Tanya Garost.

“We are really pleased that Lake Country has received this award for the second year in a row,” said Baker. “The finance department team does an excellent job communicating the municipality’s financial story in the spirit of full disclosure.”

The Canadian Award for Financial Reporting Program was established to encourage municipal governments throughout Canada to publish high quality financial reports and provide peer recognition and technical guidance for officials preparing these reports.

Garost called the award a “significant achievement” for the district, which she joined in 2016.

“I am very happy to work with such a well-qualified finance team that works hard to meet the financial reporting standards required for an award under the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting.  I want to thank all staff for their collective efforts,” she said.
