A West Kelowna man is the first volunteer selected by Valley First Credit Union for a significant donation to charity on his behalf.

Valley First is launching a program in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary, which will see 15 volunteers from the Okanagan recognized for their work in the community this year. The credit union is donating $1,500 to the charity or non-profit organization of their choosing.

Randy Hunt is donating his $1,500 to the Central Okanagan Food bank, where he volunteers 30 to 40 hours a week.

“The impact Randy’s made is truly immeasurable,” reads a media release. “He has a big role in operations of the food bank—it’s thanks to his hard work that the West Kelowna branch runs so efficiently. But it’s his personality and attitude that really make him shine as a volunteer; a definitive “go-to” person, Randy’s calming and positive attitude always puts clients and volunteers at ease.”
