Patrick La Forge, the former president of the Edmonton Oilers and COO of the Oilers Entertainment Group, has taken an executive position with Kelowna-based company Getintheloop.

La Forge spent years in the senior positions in sport, entertainment and beverage industries, and is known for his role helping produce the first ever NHL Heritage Classic outdoor game.

According to Getintheloop spokesperson Mitch Carefoot, La Forge came on board to “help drive the growth” of the company, and officially started Jan. 23.

La Forge explains that he met Getintheloop founder and CEO Matt Crowell when he was still with the Oilers and was “instantly excited” by the service GetintheLoop was offering.

He said he was so impressed with Crowell’s pitch he stopped him after only a few minutes and offered to buy the company. Crowell declined, saying he wanted to grow his company, not sell it, and a few years later he’s now working alongside La Forge.

GetintheLoop started as a simple website designed to match golfers up to tee times. It has since expanded, with mobile app that connects its members with exclusive deals from restaurants, concert venues and more.

La Forge says he’s incredibly impressed with Crowell’s vision, and sees a bright and growth-filled future for the company.

“It is very exciting for me to have this opportunity to work alongside a brilliant young digital marketing company that has such a fantastic and unlimited future potential,” he said.
